Before your service visit
If you let a home, the council can ask to see a current gas safety record when it inspects under the housing health and safety rating system or looks at an HMO licence. Keep the last two years of records together; digital copies are fine.
Clear the space around the boiler and make sure we can reach the flue terminal. If the terminal is high on a three-storey back wall, which is common on the hillside terraces, tell us when you book. We may need a longer ladder, or to inspect it from a window instead.
Book in spring or summer if you can. A boiler that sat idle all summer often shows its first fault in October, and it's better to find that at a service than on the first cold night. If there's no carbon monoxide alarm near the boiler, we can fit one on the same visit.
