Boiler installation in Poole

Boiler installation in Poole covers every kind of home, from the older terraces off Ashley Road in Upper Parkstone to the big family houses round Poole Park. If your terrace still has a tank in the loft and a cylinder in the airing cupboard, a combi conversion frees up that space and gives you mains pressure hot water. Up at Penn Hill the houses get bigger, and three bathrooms is too much for a combi, so a system boiler with an unvented cylinder is usually the better fit. Canford Cliffs Village is a conservation area, where visible changes get more scrutiny, so check the BCP Council list of conservation areas before you settle on a new flue route through a front wall. Near the cliff top, salt air is hard on flue terminals, and we plan the position with that in mind.

We fit replacement boilers right across the area, from Lilliput and Sandbanks to Broadstone and Hamworthy.

Homes we work on

Local homes, local know-how

A wide mix: large detached houses among the pines in Branksome Park and Canford Cliffs, modern high-spec homes on Sandbanks, Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Parkstone and Ashley Cross, and later 20th-century estates at Canford Heath and Creekmoor. Mains gas is standard, with plenty of older tank-fed systems still in the period houses.

Common jobs

Jobs we take on most from the harbour to the heath

System boilers for big houses

On the peninsula and the cliff-top roads, newer houses often have four or five bathrooms and a strong shower in each. We replace the tired system boiler, fit a larger unvented cylinder in the plant room or garage and set the controls so the cylinder has reheated before the morning rush.

Combi swaps in Ashley Cross terraces

Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Ashley Cross and Lower Parkstone often still run a regular boiler, a cylinder and two tanks in the loft. With one bathroom, a combi usually makes sense. We strip out the tanks, upgrade the gas pipe where it is too narrow and fit the boiler in the kitchen or the old airing cupboard.

Second boilers on Canford Heath

Houses on Canford Heath and Creekmoor went up in the later 20th century, and many are now on their second or third boiler. That usually means a straight replacement. We reuse the flue position if it still meets current rules, flush the radiators and add a magnetic filter so sludge from the old system stays out of the new one.

Before you book

Before you book: the peninsula, parking and summer traffic

Summer traffic on the single road onto Sandbanks and along the seafront slows everything down, so where you have a choice we book peninsula installs outside the school holidays. A boiler swap needs the van close by, and the old cylinder and tanks have to come out the same way the new kit goes in.

In the Old Town and around Ashley Cross, parking is tight. If you have a drive or a visitor permit, tell us at the survey. For flats near the quay, check with your managing agent whether contractors need booking in, and whether the lift will take a boiler box.

For the survey itself, it helps to have the old boiler's make and model, the building regulations certificate from the last install if you kept it, and a rough idea of how many showers run at once in the morning. If you would rather spread the cost, ask about boiler finance at the same visit.

Why Wisp

Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Poole

01

Sized for big houses

Five-bedroom homes in Branksome Park rarely suit a combi. We size the boiler and cylinder to the number of bathrooms you actually use at once.

02

Back boilers out

If your semi in Parkstone or Oakdale still has a back boiler behind the gas fire, we remove it and fit a modern boiler somewhere sensible. More on back boiler replacement.

03

Harbourside flats

Flats near the quay often have tight cupboards and limited flue routes. We check both before recommending a model, so nothing gets sent back.

04

Finance on bigger jobs

Finance options are available on new boilers if you would rather spread the cost of a full system upgrade.

Questions

Boiler Installation Poole FAQs

Will a combi cope in a big Sandbanks house?

Usually not, if more than one bathroom is in use at the same time. A combi heats water on demand, so two showers running together will drop the flow. For larger homes on the peninsula we normally specify a system boiler and an unvented cylinder, and we confirm it at the survey after measuring your mains water flow.

Do I need planning permission for a new flue in Branksome Park?

A like-for-like swap through the existing flue hole rarely does. Moving the flue onto a wall facing the road is different in a conservation area, and a quick check with the council's planning team is worth it. We flag this at the survey so there are no surprises later.

Can you move my boiler out of the kitchen?

Often, yes. Plenty of Lilliput and Parkstone homes have a boiler hogging a kitchen wall cupboard. Moving it to a utility room or the loft means a new gas run, condensate route and flue, so we price it as part of the survey rather than guessing.

Should I replace the radiators at the same time?

Not always. In older Parkstone and Lower Parkstone terraces the original steel radiators are often fine once the system is flushed. If any are cold at the bottom or weeping at the valves, swapping those few during the boiler job saves a second round of disruption. We check each one at the survey and list what we would change and why.

My house on the peninsula has underfloor heating downstairs. Can a new boiler run it?

Yes. Most modern boilers can run underfloor heating through a mixing valve and pump set, with radiators upstairs on a separate zone. It is a common setup in newer high-spec houses. We check the manifold, the controls and the zone valves at the survey so the new boiler is set up properly for both circuits.
