Boiler installation in Weston-super-Mare

Boiler installation in Weston-super-Mare takes in every kind of home, from the period buildings along the Boulevard to the streets off Locking Road and Milton Road. If you're in one of the grey stone houses on the hillside above the Grand Pier, you're probably inside the Great Weston conservation area, and street-facing stonework is a big part of what the council's Hillside character appraisal sets out to protect. So we look for a side or rear flue route first. Many of those big houses were split into flats years ago, with a boiler squeezed into a kitchen cupboard, and a compact combi in the same spot is usually the tidy answer.

We handle combi boiler installation from Kewstoke and Worle down to Uphill, Bleadon and Hutton.

Homes we work on

Local homes, local know-how

Grey limestone Victorian and Edwardian villas on the hillside and seafront, many split into flats, a large stock of mid-century semis and bungalows in Milton, Bournville and Oldmixon, and newer estates at Worle, Locking Castle and Haywood Village. Mains gas almost everywhere, with lots of combis in converted flats.

Common jobs

What we install most across the town and its villages

Replacing boilers in flat conversions

Many converted period houses around the town centre and Ellenborough Park have one boiler per flat, fitted when the conversion was done. We swap them like for like where the flue works, and add a filter and smart controls so a landlord can see the heating is running in an empty flat.

New-build combi replacements at Worle

Houses on the Worle and Locking Castle estates built in the 1990s and 2000s are now on their first or second boiler. Most have a combi in a kitchen cupboard, and many have added an en suite since, so we check the flow rate before simply fitting the same size again.

Getting ahead of hard water scale

The local supply is hard, and it shows up as crusty taps, noisy kettles and, inside a combi, a scaled plate heat exchanger. We fit a scale reducer on every combi installation and a magnetic filter on the heating side, then flush the system before the new boiler goes on.

Before you book

Timing and access for a new boiler near the seafront

The seafront and the streets behind it get very busy on summer weekends and around big events, and parking near the front can disappear. If you live close to the beach, a weekday booking outside the school holidays usually makes the fit easier for everyone. Let us know about permit zones, back lanes or a drive we can use.

In a converted period house, check who owns the flue route and the walls it passes through. If the freehold is shared, the other owners may need to agree to a new flue position. If you let the flat, tell your tenants early and agree a time, since the hot water will be off for part of the day.

Low-lying bungalows and ground-floor flats should think about where the boiler sits before it goes on the wall. Fitting it higher, with the controls above floor level, is a small change at installation time. Our page on boiler relocation explains what moving a boiler involves.

Why Wisp

Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Weston-super-Mare

01

Flat conversions

Boilers in converted flats often share a wall or flue route with the floor above. We check clearances and fit a compact combi that suits the space.

02

Mid-century bungalows

Milton and Oldmixon have streets of bungalows and semis, some still on a back boiler or an old floor-standing model. We strip those out and fit the new one somewhere more useful.

03

Working with agents

Letting a flat? We arrange access through your agent and leave the commissioning paperwork the tenancy file needs.

04

First-generation new builds

The earliest homes at Locking Castle are now old enough for a boiler replacement. A like-for-like swap keeps the job quick where the flue allows.

Questions

Boiler Installation Weston-super-Mare FAQs

My flat is in a converted period house near the seafront. Can the flue stay on the front wall?

Often, yes, if the new flue replaces an existing one in the same place. Moving it, or adding a new one on a front elevation inside the conservation area, is where planning can come in. We'll tell you at the survey which applies to you.

Is a combi right for a three-bed semi in Milton?

For most three-beds with one bathroom, a combi makes sense. Two bathrooms, or someone running a bath while another person showers, can tip it towards a system boiler and cylinder. Our combi vs system guide sets out the trade-off.

We've bought a bungalow in Bournville with a back boiler. What's involved?

We drain down, disconnect and remove the back boiler, cap the old supply at the fireplace and fit the new boiler in a better position, usually the kitchen or a cupboard. The chimney may need capping and venting afterwards. It's a bigger job than a swap, and the fixed quote covers all of it.

As a landlord with a flat in a converted period house, what paperwork do I get after a new boiler?

You'll get the Benchmark commissioning checklist, the manufacturer's warranty registration and confirmation that the installation has been notified under building regulations through the Gas Safe scheme. Keep copies in the tenancy file. The first annual gas safety check is due within 12 months of the last one, so put that in the diary too.

Our bungalow in Oldmixon has a floor-standing boiler. Can it go on the wall?

Yes, in most cases. A modern wall-hung boiler takes up a fraction of the space. We'd look at the flue route, the gas pipe size and whether the old open-vent system should stay or be converted. The fixed quote covers removing the old boiler and making good where it stood.
