Boiler Installation Kingsbridge

New boilers from the quay to the top of the hill

We install boilers across Kingsbridge, in flats above Fore Street shops, terraces in Dodbrooke and family homes on the newer estates. We survey first, then give you a fixed quote that covers the boiler, flue, controls and clean-up, so the price you agree is the price you pay.

Boiler installation in Kingsbridge

Boiler installation in Kingsbridge covers the whole town, from the shops on Fore Street down to the homes around the Quay. If you're in an older terrace near the top of Fore Street, we check how the boiler gets in and where a new flue can go without crowding a neighbour's window. Out along Plymouth Road towards South Hams Hospital, or near Tesco on Cookworthy Road, parking for the survey and fitting days is usually easier to sort. After the January 2026 gas outage, it is worth adding a smart thermostat that warns you when the house is cooling, and that is simple to fit alongside a new boiler. Devon County Council's guidance for residents affected by the gas outage is still a useful read on keeping warm safely without gas.

We carry out boiler replacement in Dodbrooke, West Alvington and Churchstow, and along the estuary to Frogmore.

Homes we work on

Local homes, local know-how

Listed shops with homes above line Fore Street as it climbs from the quay, with older terraces around Dodbrooke and post-war and modern estates on the edges of town. The town is on mains gas, while farms and smaller villages often run on oil or LPG.

Not every home here is on mains gas. Our OFTEC registered technicians fit and service oil boilers and we install LPG boilers too.

Common jobs

What we fit most from the quay to the villages

Boilers lifted clear of tidal flooding

Homes and flats around Bridge Street, Mill Street and the Promenade sit low by the water. When we replace a ground-floor boiler there, we look at raising it or moving it upstairs, and we keep the controls and wiring above the level the water has reached before.

Combi conversions on the newer estates

Post-war and later semis on the edges of town were often built with a hot water cylinder and tanks in the loft. If you have one bathroom and good mains pressure, swapping to a combi frees the airing cupboard and clears the loft. We test pressure and flow before we recommend it.

LPG boilers for village cottages

Not every off-grid village home runs on oil. Some cottages around the estuary use bulk or bottled LPG instead, and we fit boilers made for it, check where the tank or cylinders sit and set the boiler up for propane before handing it over.

Before you book

Fitting around the tides and a steep main street

The town council publishes a high tide timetable and flags a flood risk across the quay area for 45 minutes either side of any tide of 5 metres or more. Streets on its list include Bridge Street, Quay Lane, Mill Street and Devon Square. If you live there, we avoid booking deliveries in those windows and talk through where the boiler and gas meter sit.

Fore Street climbs steeply from the quay and is narrow, with shops below many of the flats. A van cannot always stop outside, so we agree a loading spot and plan the carry before the day. Tell us if the only way in is through a shop or up a shared staircase.

For the survey, it helps to know the age of the current boiler, where the stopcock is and whether your flat is leasehold, as a new flue may need the freeholder's agreement. You can start everything with our free quote form.

Why Wisp

Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Kingsbridge

01

Fore Street flats

Homes above shops in the conservation area often need a careful flue route to the rear. We plan it before we quote.

02

Back boilers in older terraces

Older terraces sometimes still have a back boiler behind the fire. We remove it safely and fit a modern boiler somewhere more practical.

03

Village homes off the grid

Our OFTEC registered engineers fit and replace oil boilers for farms and cottages out towards Loddiswell and East Allington.

04

Warranty through the maker

We register your boiler under manufacturer-approved installer schemes, so the warranty is in place from day one.

Questions

Boiler Installation Kingsbridge FAQs

Our flat is above a listed shop on Fore Street. Can we have a new boiler?

Usually, yes. Fore Street sits in a conservation area designated in 1972 and many buildings are listed, so a new flue through a front wall may need consent. We look for a rear route first and check what permission is needed before you commit.

We have an old back boiler. What does replacing it involve?

We decommission it, cap the gas, remove the old unit and fit a new boiler in a better spot. Our back boiler replacement page goes through the job step by step.

Could a heat pump give us backup if the gas goes off again?

A hybrid system pairs a small heat pump with a gas boiler, so the house keeps some heat if one side is down. It is not right for every home. Our hybrid heat pump page explains when it makes sense.

Do you cover villages west of the estuary, like Thurlestone?

Yes. We cover Thurlestone and Aveton Gifford to the west, and Churchstow and Loddiswell to the north. Mains gas does not reach every village home, so tell us your fuel when you get in touch. That way the right engineer comes out for the survey, Gas Safe for gas or OFTEC for oil.

Can we keep our hot water cylinder and just change the boiler?

Yes. If the cylinder is in good condition and you like having stored hot water, we can fit a system or regular boiler and keep it. Where the cylinder is old and poorly insulated, replacing it at the same time is often worth doing. We check its condition at the survey and price both options.
