Boiler installation in Nailsea

Boiler installation in Nailsea covers the whole town, from the homes close to the Crown Glass Shopping Centre to the roads off Station Road heading for the railway station. If your house dates from the 1960s or 70s, the original layout was often a boiler in the kitchen, a cylinder in the airing cupboard and tanks in the loft. That set-up is common in homes of that age, from streets near the Tesco on Stock Way North to the roads behind the Waitrose on the High Street. Swapping it for a combi frees up space, though bigger households sometimes do better keeping a cylinder. Before you choose, look your house up on the EPC register on GOV.UK, so we size the boiler to the house as it is today.

We take on combi boiler installation in Backwell, Wraxall and Tickenham, and down the lanes towards Chelvey and Brockley.

Homes we work on

Local homes, local know-how

Mostly post-war detached and semi-detached houses and bungalows from the town's 1960s and 70s growth, with older stone cottages along the lanes and in villages such as Wraxall and Backwell. Mainly mains gas, and many homes still have an airing-cupboard cylinder.

Common jobs

The boiler jobs we see most in the estates and villages

Second-generation combi swaps

Plenty of the post-war houses here had their first combi in the 2000s, and those boilers are now coming up for replacement. With the flue and gas run already in place, a new combi on the same wall is usually the simplest route, and we add a filter and new controls at the same time.

Loft boilers in bungalows

Bungalows on the estates have limited wall space and often a big empty loft. We can move the boiler up there with a boarded walkway, a light and a fixed ladder for servicing access. It frees the kitchen wall and keeps the noise out of the living space.

Cottages in the outlying villages

Stone cottages along the lanes around Wraxall and Chelvey often have thick walls, small windows and a boiler that was squeezed in decades ago. We check the gas meter position and pipe size, since older cottages sometimes need a bigger gas supply run to feed a modern combi properly.

Before you book

What to have ready for the survey

If your house has had cavity wall insulation, new windows or a loft top-up since it was built, tell us. It all cuts heat loss, and it means the replacement can often be smaller than the boiler coming out. An extension or a converted garage changes the sums the other way.

Have a look in the airing cupboard and the loft before we visit. A copper cylinder and a pair of cold water tanks mean you have a regular system, and that opens up the question of keeping it or converting to a combi. Note how many bathrooms and showers you have and how often they're in use together.

Water here comes from Bristol Water, whose supply is moderately hard to very hard, so a scale reducer is part of every combi quote we write. If you're weighing up a different fuel altogether, our guide to what size boiler you need is a good primer before we talk numbers.

Why Wisp

Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Nailsea

01

Combi conversions

Lose the tanks and cylinder and you gain a cupboard and a clear loft. Our combi conversion page explains when it suits and when it doesn't.

02

Sized, not oversized

Lots of these houses have since had cavity wall and loft insulation, so the old boiler is often bigger than the house needs. We do the heat loss sums.

03

Bungalow options

Bungalows on the estates usually have the boiler in the kitchen. Moving it to the loft frees up wall space, and we'll price it as an option.

04

Fixed price, finance available

Free survey, a written fixed quote and finance options if you'd rather spread the cost of a boiler replacement.

Questions

Boiler Installation Nailsea FAQs

Our Trendlewood house still has a hot water cylinder. Should we switch to a combi?

With two or three people and one bathroom, a combi usually works well and frees the airing cupboard. Two bathrooms and teenagers? Stored hot water often wins. We check your mains flow on the survey and recommend one, not both.

Is it worth replacing a boiler that's only 12 years old?

Sometimes. If it's breaking down a lot, or parts are getting hard to find, a new boiler can be the cheaper path over a few years. If it runs well and has been serviced, we'll tell you to keep it. Our guide on how long a boiler lasts has more.

Do you cover the villages as well?

Yes, Backwell, Flax Bourton, Wraxall and the rest. Some older stone cottages out there are off the gas main, and for those we look at LPG boilers or oil instead of gas. Where the main does run past, a new gas connection can sometimes beat both on running costs, and we'll talk it through.

Our 1970s house still has ducted warm air heating. Can you replace it with a boiler and radiators?

Yes, although it's a bigger job than a boiler swap. We'd fit a new boiler, run pipework and add radiators to each room, then make the old ducts and grilles safe. It usually works out more comfortable and more controllable. We'll survey and quote it as one fixed price.

Can you fit the new boiler in the garage?

Often, yes, and it's popular in the detached houses here. The garage needs to stay above freezing or the boiler needs frost protection, and pipes running through a cold space must be insulated. We check the flue route and whether the garage wall is shared with a neighbour before suggesting it.
