Boiler Installation Sidmouth
Regency terraces, valley bungalows and everything in between
We fit new gas boilers across Sidmouth, from the seafront terraces to the newer homes up the valley. Every job starts with a survey, then a fixed quote you can take away and think about. Our Gas Safe engineers handle the lot: old boiler out, new one in, flue, controls and paperwork.

Boiler installation in Sidmouth
Boiler installation in Sidmouth takes us from the guest houses and flats along the Esplanade to the family homes off All Saints Road near the Victoria Hospital. If you're in one of the painted villas facing the sea, the flue position is the part we plan hardest, because a terminal on a stucco front is the first thing people notice. Where we can, we take it out through a rear or side wall instead, and we check the district council's conservation area appraisal before suggesting anything visible. Up Peak Hill Road towards Connaught Gardens the houses sit high and exposed, so we fit the manufacturer's flue kit and keep the terminal out of the worst of the wind. Down near Jacob's Ladder, salt spray is the bigger worry, and the same care applies.
We handle boiler replacement right along the valley, from Salcombe Regis and Sidford up to Sidbury and across to Newton Poppleford.
Local homes, local know-how
Regency terraces and stucco villas along the seafront and in the Elysian Fields, Victorian houses in the older streets, and plenty of post-war bungalows further up the valley. The town is on mains gas; some outlying farmhouses run on oil or LPG.

What we fit most often in the Sid Valley
Regular boilers for tall Regency houses
Townhouses near Fortfield Terrace and the Esplanade often have bathrooms spread over three or four floors, fed by an old open-vented system. Forcing a combi onto that layout rarely ends well. We usually fit a new regular or system boiler and keep a cylinder, so the shower at the top of the house still gets a proper flow.
Bungalow swaps towards Woolbrook and Sidford
Post-war bungalows up the valley make for some of our tidiest jobs. The loft is easy to reach and the pipe runs are short. An old floor-standing boiler in the kitchen can come out in favour of a wall-hung combi, which frees that corner for a cupboard or the washing machine.
Boilers for flats in the big seafront period houses
Several of the large period houses facing the bay were split into flats long ago, each with its own small boiler. Most of the work on these swaps is the flue. It has to clear the windows above and beside it, and on a wall that takes the spray we choose a terminal kit built to cope with salt.

Booking a boiler swap around FolkWeek and the summer
The first week of August belongs to FolkWeek, and the town fills with festival-goers. Parking a van near a Regency terrace is tricky enough in July; that week it is close to impossible. If your house is in the centre or on the front, spring and autumn are far easier, because we can unload near your door and carry a boiler in without a long walk.
For a listed house, build consent time into your plans. If the flue has to move, listed building consent has a statutory target of eight weeks for a decision once the application is valid, and the application normally needs a drawing of the new flue route. Reusing the existing flue position often avoids the wait altogether.
For the survey, have the old boiler's model number to hand, know which rooms run cold and tell us how many people shower in the morning. If you live close to the river at Sidford, mention it, because the Environment Agency's records show past flooding to homes there and we would put the new boiler well above floor level. Our guide on what size boiler you need explains how we size it.
Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Sidmouth
Swapping tanks for a combi
Plenty of homes towards Sidford and Sidbury still run a cylinder and a loft tank. A combi conversion frees the airing cupboard, as long as your mains pressure can keep up.
Big houses, big hot water demand
A Regency townhouse with three bathrooms usually does better on a system boiler and unvented cylinder than on one combi. We size it from the taps and showers you actually use.
A price that stays put
Your quote is fixed after the survey. Anything extra we spot, like a sludged-up system that needs flushing, goes on the quote before you agree to it.
Warranty and finance
We register manufacturer-approved installer warranties where they apply. If paying in one go doesn't suit, ask about finance on a new boiler.

Boiler repair SidmouthBoiler Installation Sidmouth FAQs
Can you put a new boiler in a listed house on the seafront?
Yes, though it takes more planning than a standard swap. Replacing a boiler inside the house is usually simple. A new flue through a listed front wall is a different matter, so we hunt for a hidden route first and tell you if consent is likely before you commit to anything.
Our bungalow has a back boiler behind the gas fire. Can it go?
It can, and it's one of the jobs we quote most often on 1960s and 70s bungalows. We take out the old unit, make the fireplace safe and fit a modern boiler somewhere sensible, often the kitchen or utility. Our page on back boiler replacement walks through it.
Does sea air shorten a boiler's life?
On the front row, it can. Salt gets at flue terminals and outside pipework and speeds up corrosion. A street or two back the effect drops off sharply, but the wind doesn't, so we still keep the terminal sheltered and the condensate pipe protected from frost.
Can a new boiler go in the loft of a valley bungalow?
Often, yes, and it suits bungalows with small kitchens. The loft needs a fixed ladder, a boarded walkway to the boiler, a light and enough room around it for an engineer to work safely. We check the flue route out through the roof and whether the pipework can reach the loft without lifting floors in the rooms below.
We spend part of the winter away. Are smart controls worth adding with the new boiler?
For a house that sits empty for weeks, they are. A smart thermostat lets you keep frost protection running, warm the house up before you get home and see on your phone if the heating has dropped out. We fit smart thermostats alongside new boilers, so the controls and boiler are set up together.
