Boiler Installation Castle Cary
Gas boilers in town, oil and LPG out in the lanes
We install boilers in Castle Cary and the farms and villages around it, from Ansford to North Cadbury. We survey your home, recommend the right boiler and fuel for it, whether that is gas, oil or LPG, and fix the price in writing before any work starts.

Boiler installation in Castle Cary
Boiler installation in Castle Cary takes in the stone cottages on the High Street and the houses along Fore Street down to the Horse Pond. Around the Market House, a white plastic flue on a front wall stands out straight away, so we look at side and rear walls first and use plume kits to keep terminals out of sight. If you are out on Station Road towards the railway station, ask us about moving an old boiler to a better spot while the work is being done. In the narrow centre, we agree where to park and unload before the day. Before any flue change on the street side, check the council's conservation areas guidance to see whether your house falls inside a boundary.
We cover boiler replacement in Galhampton, Ditcheat, Hadspen and Pitcombe as well as the town itself.
Local homes, local know-how
A small market town of eighteenth and nineteenth century houses in golden local stone, many listed, with farmhouses and converted barns in the villages around it. The town has mains gas, while plenty of rural homes nearby heat with oil or LPG.
Not every home here is on mains gas. Our OFTEC registered technicians fit and service oil boilers and we install LPG boilers too.

What we fit most in the town and surrounding farms
Oil boiler swaps on farms and in hamlets
Most homes in the scattered hamlets around the town run on oil. We replace old non-condensing oil boilers with modern condensing models, which use less fuel, and we check the tank and fuel line at the same time. If the tank is worn or sited too close to the house, we plan a replacement.
Regular boiler to system boiler in town houses
Older houses near the Market House often have a regular boiler, tanks in the loft and a vented cylinder. Where a combi would struggle, we fit a system boiler with an unvented cylinder, which clears the loft tanks and gives you stronger showers without the hot water running out.
Underfloor heating in barn conversions
Converted barns in the villages often have big open-plan spaces with stone or tiled floors. A boiler feeding underfloor heating warms those spaces more evenly than radiators. We design the system zone by zone, and make sure the boiler is sized for both the underfloor loops and any radiators upstairs.

What to plan for on a rural or town-centre install
The weekly market sets up around the Market House on Tuesdays, so parking in the centre is tighter on those mornings. Many town houses also have no off-street parking, so the van may need to stop a short walk away. If your house is in the middle of town, we will try to work on another day.
In festival years, the roads and the railway station get very busy in late June when the crowds head for Pilton. There was no festival in 2026, but if your install falls in that week in a festival year, expect delays and plan around it.
Out on the farms, check that a van can reach the house and that the route to your oil tank is clear, because the tank may need replacing too. Older tanks are often closer to the house or boundary than current rules allow. If you want to compare fuels before deciding, our guide on LPG vs oil boilers is a good place to start.
Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Castle Cary
Oil boilers for farmhouses
Many homes out towards Alford and Lovington run on oil. Our OFTEC engineers replace oil boilers and tanks, with the tank sited to current rules.
LPG where oil will not fit
Some cottages have no room for an oil tank. An LPG boiler with a bulk tank or cylinders can be the neater answer.
Heating barn conversions
Big open barns lose heat fast. We size the boiler from a room-by-room heat loss check, not a guess.
Ready for low carbon
If a heat pump might suit you later, ask about hybrid heat pumps that work alongside a boiler.

Our oil boiler is twenty years old. Should we switch to LPG or a heat pump?
It depends on your insulation, radiators and budget. A modern oil condensing boiler is the simplest swap. A heat pump can qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and suits well-insulated homes. We give a fair comparison on the survey, and our guide on oil boiler vs heat pump covers the basics.
Can you fit a combi in a stone terrace near the Market House?
Usually, yes, as long as the mains water flow is strong enough, which we test on the survey. Combi boiler installation frees up the airing cupboard in these small houses. Flue position is the main design question, and we plan it with the conservation area in mind.
How do I get a quote?
Book a free survey through our get a quote page. We visit, look at your current system, measure up and talk through the options. You then get one fixed price covering the boiler, flue, controls and making good, with nothing added later.
Can a new boiler run underfloor heating in our barn conversion?
Yes. A modern boiler can feed underfloor heating through a mixing valve and manifold, which keeps the water at the lower temperature the floor needs. We work out the heat loss of each zone and size the boiler for the underfloor loops and any radiators together. Our underfloor heating installation page explains the work.
Our oil tank sits right next to the back door. Does it have to move?
If the tank is within 1.8 metres of the house, current rules usually require a fire barrier or a new position, and the same applies close to a boundary. If you are replacing the tank, we plan a compliant spot on the survey. If it is in good condition, we tell you whether it can stay and what would need to change.
