Boiler installation in Weymouth

Boiler installation in Weymouth covers the flats in the Georgian terraces on the Esplanade as much as the cottages round Hope Square by Brewers Quay. The seafront terraces sit in a large conservation area, and plenty have been split into flats. The town centre conservation area appraisal explains what gives the area its character, and clutter on the front elevations works against it, so we look for flue routes to the rear or through the roof. If you live in a flat above the shops on St Mary Street, a rear flue is usually the neatest answer too. Out on the Nothe side of the harbour, homes take salt wind straight off the sea, so we pick flue kits and fittings that cope with it.

We fit replacement boilers across the area, from Preston and Overcombe to Wyke Regis and Chickerell.

Homes we work on

Local homes, local know-how

Georgian brick and stucco terraces on the seafront, many split into flats, a red brick Edwardian suburb at Westham, and 20th-century semis and estates from Preston to Littlemoor. Mains gas almost everywhere.

Common jobs

Installs we take on most along the bay and inland

Park District terraces

The Victorian terraces of the Park District often have the boiler in a back kitchen or rear extension, with a cylinder upstairs. Most suit a combi once the tanks come out, and the rear wall usually gives a clean flue route that leaves the front of the terrace untouched.

Estate homes at Littlemoor and Southill

Houses at Littlemoor, Southill and Chickerell were built in the later 20th century with gas central heating in place, so the job is usually a like-for-like swap. We reuse the flue if it meets current rules, upgrade the controls and flush the old radiators before the new boiler goes on.

Cottages in Upwey and Broadwey

Older cottages along the Wey valley in Upwey and Broadwey can have thick stone walls and low ceilings. We plan flue and pipe routes carefully, and in the lanes close to the river we keep the boiler and its controls well up off the floor.

Before you book

Timing, parking and flood risk before an install

The seafront and the town centre are busy all summer, and parking near the Esplanade gets hard from Easter onwards. If the old boiler is still going, book an install in a seafront building outside the school holidays, when we can park close and carry kit in without dodging crowds.

The council describes the town centre as vulnerable to flooding from several sources, sitting at the mouth of the Wey with the harbour on one side and the beach on the other. If you live in a ground floor flat in Melcombe Regis or near the harbour, put the new boiler as high as the layout allows and keep the electrics clear of the floor.

For flats, get freeholder consent moving before the survey if you think the flue will change. Have your last gas safety record or service sheet ready, and your tenancy dates if the property is let. Our guide to combi vs system boilers is worth a read if you are unsure which suits.

Why Wisp

Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Weymouth

01

Flats in old terraces

Converted seafront flats need a careful flue plan and, often, the freeholder's consent before any work starts.

02

Edwardian Westham

If your red brick Edwardian house in Westham still runs on loft tanks, a combi conversion frees the space and boosts the showers.

03

Back boilers replaced

Older semis out towards Radipole and Wyke Regis sometimes still have a back boiler behind the fire. We take those out and fit a modern boiler in a better spot.

04

Monthly payments

Finance options are available on new boilers if you would rather pay monthly than settle one bill.

Questions

Boiler Installation Weymouth FAQs

I own a flat on the seafront. Can I move the flue?

Possibly, but you will need the freeholder's permission and, if the building is listed, listed building consent as well. Many Esplanade buildings are. The simplest route is usually to keep the flue where it is or take it to the rear. We check what is allowed at survey before quoting.

Can you fit a new boiler before the summer letting season?

Yes. Booking in spring gives you the widest choice of dates and a tested boiler before guests arrive. Tell us your letting dates at the survey and we will plan the installation around them, leaving time to run the heating before the first booking.

Is a combi big enough for my family home in Preston?

With one bathroom and good mains flow, almost certainly. Add an en suite and a house full of teenagers who all shower at half seven, and think again. We measure the flow at survey and give you a straight answer, not the priciest option.

My house in Upwey is close to the river. Where should the new boiler go?

Anywhere above the level water could reach, if the layout allows. A wall-hung boiler in an upstairs airing cupboard or high on a kitchen wall is far easier to save after a flood than one near the floor. Check your address on the government's long term flood risk service before the survey and we will plan the position around it.

Will a new boiler fit in my Park District back kitchen without losing cupboard space?

Usually, yes. Modern combis are compact and can hang where the old boiler was, or go inside a wall cupboard above the worktop. If the tanks and cylinder upstairs come out, you gain the airing cupboard too. We measure at the survey and show you exactly where it would go before you commit.
