Boiler Installation Camborne and Redruth
From miners' terraces to new homes on old mine land
We fit boilers in Camborne and Redruth, plus Pool, Illogan and the villages in between. A Gas Safe engineer surveys first and gives you a fixed quote, so you know the cost of a swap, a conversion or a whole new system before we start.

Boiler installation in Camborne and Redruth
Boiler installation in Camborne and Redruth covers both towns end to end, from the homes off Trevithick Road in Camborne to the streets around Fore Street in Redruth. If you can see Carn Brea and the Basset Monument from your back window, you're in the old mining district, inside the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site, and the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site explains the area. For heating, that mostly means solid-walled miners' cottages with small rooms. Plenty still have a back boiler behind the fireplace, and swapping it for a combi frees up the chimney breast. If you're in a newer house on the estates close to the A30, a like-for-like swap is often the simplest route.
We carry out combi boiler installation and boiler replacement across Pool, Illogan, Tuckingmill, Lanner and St Day.
Local homes, local know-how
Long rows of 19th-century miners' terraces in granite and killas stone, many now rented, alongside post-war estates in Pool and Illogan and new housing on former mine land. Mains gas covers most of the towns, while hamlets towards Four Lanes and Carnkie lean on oil and LPG.
Not every home here is on mains gas. Our OFTEC registered technicians fit and service oil boilers and we install LPG boilers too.

What we install most in the terraces and villages
Gas central heating for rented terraces
Some rented miners' cottages still rely on storage heaters or a gas fire in one room. Landlords add a combi and radiators to make the house easier to let and cheaper for tenants to heat. Private lets in England need an EPC rating of at least E, and proper heating usually helps.
Bigger supplies for extended homes
Plenty of terraces have gained a rear extension, a loft conversion or a second bathroom since the old boiler went in. A modern combi can need a wider gas pipe from the meter than the one that's there, so we measure the run and upgrade it as part of the job.
Oil and LPG upgrades on high ground
Hamlets up towards Four Lanes and Carnkie sit high, exposed and off the gas main. We replace old oil and LPG boilers with condensing models, check the tank and supply, and pick a flue position that won't take the worst of the wind on the ridge.

Before the survey in an older terrace
In the older cottages, the gas meter is often in a cupboard by the front door or under the stairs, a long way from where the boiler should go. Have a think about where you'd like the boiler to end up, such as the back kitchen or a bedroom cupboard, and we'll tell you what that means for pipework and the flue.
Old back boilers and their flues sometimes have asbestos panels or rope seals, especially in units from decades ago. We check before anything is taken apart, and if testing is needed we'll arrange it, so nobody is put at risk. If you know the age of the fireplace or have old paperwork, bring it out.
Parking is mostly on-street in the terraces. On Trevithick Day, in late April, the main streets through the town centre close for the day, so pick another date for the fit if you live near the route. Our guide to combi vs system boilers helps if you're unsure which suits your house.
Why choose Wisp for boiler installation in Camborne and Redruth
Back boilers out
Swapping a back boiler for a modern wall-hung one is a regular job in the old terraces. Here's how back boiler replacement works.
Room to breathe
Small cottages gain a cupboard and a clear loft from a combi conversion, which does away with the tank and cylinder.
Solid walls, honest sizing
Uninsulated stone walls lose heat faster than cavity walls, so we work out heat loss room by room instead of guessing.
Fixed price
Free survey, a fixed quote, and finance options if you'd rather spread the cost of a new boiler.

Boiler repair Camborne and RedruthBoiler Installation Camborne and Redruth FAQs
Our terrace in Tuckingmill still has a back boiler. Can it be replaced?
Yes. We remove the back boiler, make the fireplace safe and fit the new boiler in a better spot, often the kitchen or a cupboard. The old chimney may need capping and venting. It's more work than a straight swap, but you end up with a far more efficient system.
Does the World Heritage Site status stop me changing my boiler?
No. The status mainly shapes bigger planning decisions. A boiler swap inside an ordinary house rarely needs anything. If the house is listed, or in a conservation area and the flue has to move to the front, we'll flag it at the survey.
Is a combi big enough for a three-bed ex-council house in Pool?
For most, yes. Those houses usually have one bathroom and a modest heat loss once insulated, so a mid-sized combi copes. If you've added an en suite, we'll check the flow rate and may suggest a system boiler instead.
Our old back boiler is boxed in behind panels. Could there be asbestos?
It's possible in older units, particularly in the panels, rope seals or flue pipes. We look before disturbing anything, and if a material is suspect we stop and arrange testing. Most removals go ahead with no issue, but checking first protects you, your family and our engineers.
We let a terrace with storage heaters. Will a gas boiler improve the EPC?
In many cases, yes. A modern condensing boiler with radiators and controls usually rates better than old storage heaters, though the final score depends on insulation and the rest of the house. We can't promise a rating, but your EPC assessor can model the change before you commit.
